Mazda Doesn't Believe in Self-Driving Cars Except For One Scenario
Mr. Hidetoshi Kudo isn’t your typical PR guy. The heavy metal-loving Mazda global public relations head once served as an engineer. He’s largely the man behind Skyactiv—the suite of technology in every new Mazda vehicle that enhances environmental performance without affecting the fun-to-drive factor. Given Mazda’s shift to a more human-centric design philosophy, his job as PR chief is important. After all, who can better explain what Mazda engineers are up to than one who’s a former engineer himself.

Porsche 718 Boxster and Boxster S: Coming Soon
First appearing in 1996, Porsche’s mid-engine Boxster quickly captured the imagination and fancy of performance seekers already aware of the values of the Stuttgart-based supercar maker. The Boxster made an instant connection to an adoring public with its athletic build and a matching visceral performance – not to mention the fact that it afforded an unmistakable sense of freedom as a roadster. Not since the Porsche 550 Spyder of the 1950s had the carmaker primarily envisaged a vehicle sans top. It was, and still is, about “taking the offensive… not least on the racetrack.” Indeed, the 550, according to Porsche, “defied the motorsport standards of the time.”

Review: 2016 Suzuki Ciaz GLX A/T
Suzuki is on a roll. Once the specialist in micro and small cars, it’s now going into bigger and better things. Granted there were some hiccups along the way (the SX4 and Kizashi to name two), the Ertiga showed Filipinos that Suzuki could also make great cars apart from the Swift. And now, it’s joined in the showroom by the all-new Ciaz. Considering that it’s competing in the lucrative, but heavily contested sub-compact sedan genre, the Ciaz is a great alternative to the usual segment stalwarts.

Will Mazda Produce Its Own Pickup-based SUV?
Mazda has already announced that its next-generation pickup truck will be produced with Isuzu. With a collaborative partnership that spans more than a decade (Isuzu produces trucks for Mazda’s domestic market requirements), this agreement is seen as a logical extension. Of course, given Isuzu produces a pickup-based SUV on its pickup truck, the mu-X, will Mazda get something similar?

Review: 2016 Nissan Almera 1.5 VL
It’s hard to get excited about the Nissan Almera. When it first made its way to the Philippine market three years ago, it already looked dated right before it rolled off the assembly line. And given the Filipino car buyer’s penchant for something sleek and sporty, it failed to gain traction despite boasting a blizzard-inducing air conditioning system. Fast forward to 2016 and Nissan has refreshed the Almera with a re-tweaked design and more features. Can it gain lost ground now?

2017 Mazda3 in Machine Gray Metallic: Not Your Typical 50 Shades of Gray
These are the first photos you’ll see of the 2017 Mazda3 in its new hue, Machine Gray Metallic, out in the wild. Taken during a track exercise demonstrating G-Vectoring Control at Mazda’s Mine Proving Ground, we skirted the “no photography” rule by having engineers simply park the car in a “photography safe zone”. They obliged. God bless them.

Driving Fun is an Exact Science for Mazda
Mazda knows it’s not a large car company. The biggest ones in the world boast production numbers topping in the 7 million range while the Hiroshima-based carmaker does no more than 1.5 million. Yet, instead of obsessing with market share and volume, Mazda wants to develop a strong bond with its customers. In turn, this has become Mazda’s corporate identity; their irreplaceable presence in the motoring world.
