Reinventing an automotive icon like the Land Rover Defender isn’t easy. It involves taking special care to pay respects to the original without producing something overly cliched, or even worse, a caricature. It’s something Land Rover thought long and hard before reviving the Defender name, and even then, it had to overcome a deafening roar of opinion, both negative and positive.
