Review: 2018 Toyota Rush 1.5 G TRD Sportivo
I honestly wanted to like the Toyota Rush, I really did. Given how late it entered the sub-compact SUV segment and given all the resources Toyota had in its disposal, it’s the one that’s supposed to turn the market upside down; it’s the one that’s supposed to make everyone quiver with fear. But it doesn’t; not even in the slightest. More than anything, it actually reminds you just how good everyone else’s is.

When it comes to performance Mazda cars, no one knows them better than Nobuhiro Yamamoto. Yamamoto-san is instrumental in transforming them from a maker of mediocre cars to one brimming with passion. One of his realizations is that Mazda’s soul is intertwined with the rotary engine—a powertrain which the Hiroshima-based carmaker dabbled in 1967 only to almost abandon the technology 6 years later.

Mazda is Just As Unconventional in Their Motorsports Program
Mazda has always worn unconventionality on its sleeve. From its hard headedness to bring the rotary engine to life to the development of Skyactiv—a high-compression gasoline engine, the carmaker has always thrown curve ball after curve ball in everything that they do. It shouldn’t come as a surprise therefore that the same philosophy—defying convention—applies even to their motorsports program as well.
